Most tourists who visit Batu Caves tend to focus on the colorful 272 steps and exploring the temples inside the caves, which means they may miss the vibrant and colorful Shiva temple located at the base of the steps. This temple has recently been renovated and decorated with colorful paint that matches the stairs, making it a must-see attraction. In this post, I will share my experience visiting this beautiful Shiva temple
The temple has two floors. The first floor features several Gods and Goddesses, as well as a hall for hosting functions such as weddings and receptions. Upon entering through the front door, visitors are immediately greeted by the statue of Ganesh/Pillayar, the remover of all obstacles
A Few Gods And Goddesses
The second floor of the temple houses Lord Shiva and Nandhi. One of the highlights of this floor is the opportunity to see the big Nandi from outside, looking at Lord Shiva through a large glass wall. Additionally, visitors can catch a glimpse of the big Nandhi while climbing the stairs to the caves.
View of the Building from the Outside
It’s truly mesmerizing to see the colorful architecture and paintings inside the temple. The management has done an impressive job of maintaining and enhancing its beauty. Most Hindu devotees visit this temple either before or after visiting the cave temples. Personally, I like to explore the cave temples first and then come down to worship all the Gods and Goddesses inside the colorful temple.
Beautiful and Colorful Interior view
Shoes are not allowed inside the temple, but both Hindu devotees and tourists are welcome to enter for free. Cameras and video cameras are permitted inside, making it a great place to take colorful pictures. I’m looking forward to visiting again and taking more beautiful photos with my camera and new Lens.
